Faux News, already in rare form......
from the LA Times:

Fox News' Chris Wallace: Is Obama even president?
11:18 AM PT, Jan 20 2009

"Well, again, we're wondering here whether or not Barack Obama in fact is the president of the United States," Chris Wallace told Fox News viewers, well over an hour after Obama had taken the oath of office today.

Fox News replayed the swearing-in moment when President Obama and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. each bobbled the words to the constitutional oath. "They had a kind of garbled oath," Wallace said.

"It's just conceivable that this will end up going to the courts," Wallace speculated.

A bit of wishful thinking on behalf of (presumably conservative) Fox viewers?

Perhaps. But Wallace quickly added: "As Brit Hume rightly pointed out, if it goes to the Supreme Court, certainly Chief Justice Roberts will say that he took the oath."

4. Of course we know they'll grasp at anything to bring him down.
At least he doesn't seem like the type to fool around, so we don't have to worry about that.

10. Exactly.
The oath is not the determining factor. Let them waste their money on lawsuits.

9. My God, they never give up, do they?
It's really quite simple -- the Constitution specifies the form of the oath, but does not say it must be done in public, or that it must be administered by the Chief Justice, or even that it must be witnessed. I would not be surprised if, right after leaving the dais, the President just raised his hand again, said the oath properly, and made it all nice and Constitutionally correct.

18. we all knew faux would turn into rabid attack dawgs in a matter of
seconds after he became president, and in a way, I don't mind. It makes me sick, but the public is getting wise, progressives are organized and fighting back, and if Faux keeps it up, the dems will kick ass again in 2010, for an unprecedented third time in a row.

have one of their own in the Chief Justice's spot. He can just refuse to issue the oath to the president and the party rules forever. Brilliant. I wonder why I never thought of that before?

I assume it's because I'm not a complete imbecile.

28. Taking the absurdity up a notch for no particular reason
Since there is nothing in the Constitution about throwing God into the oath of office, couldn't Fox News say that NO president of the US has ever been legitimate since George Washington (unclear if he added a god into things)? If they do a freelance oath of office, it doesn't count, right?
