We had an Irish Catholic President today !
Since the shrubs term expired at High Noon and The Big O wasn't sworn in until 12:05, for 5 minutes, Mighty Joe Biden was our President. In that short 5 minutes, he did what chimpy couldn't do in 8 years. He helped bring America together and make America proud.WAY TO GO JOE.

By the way, O'Bama, that's Irish too isn't it? Aggh tis a good day all around!

1. Nice thought, but Obama became prez at noon
as the constitution prescribes and does not qualify with the oath.

2. He'll always be Barack O'Bama to me.
He'll always be Barack O'Bama to me

JOHN DOYLE
January 20, 2009

Today is Obama day. It's all that matters on TV. The swearing-in is at noon.
You won't catch many people looking at events today through the prism of irony, but let's have a go. While it is universally acknowledged that Barack Obama is the first black president of the United States, and this is a wonderful thing, it is less widely acknowledged is that he is yet another Irish-American president.
Yet it's true. He is. A priest has proved it, and a priest wouldn't tell a lie. Kenya can claim him. Hawaii can claim him. But the new president will always be Barack O'Bama to me. He is, in fact, part of the Kearney family from County Offaly. His people are from the village of Moneygall, a lovely place.

3. I thought that too, but I was wrong.. I found out later that Obama became
President at NOON wether he took the oath or not. The oath is a formality, and he could have sung a song instead and he still would be President Obama!

4. Earlier today someone in the know said that the change took place at noon, the
timing of the swearing in didn't matter. However, it's OK with me if Perlman, Yo Yo Ma, McGill, and Montero could hold a special position in the Exec House - it would be OK with me.

By the way, why not O'Biden, too.

I wonder how good the parties were in Ireland last night. Oh to see it!!!!! Oh to have had a Guiness with them!!!!

5. That O'Bama lad does have Irish relatives - the Kearneys
of Southeastern Ohio on his grandfather's side! But, as an Irish-Catholic from southeastern PA, I am very proud of Jod Biden! Obama too of course and all who supported him!

6. I'm just happy about the Irish part.
Although having the Catholic VP to boot does make me smile a bit.
