The address on the envelope that President Barack Obama found at his desk at the Oval Office this morning, on his first full day of work.

A missive from former President George W. Bush.

Obama, who made the rounds of inaugural balls last night and returned to the White House at about 1 am EST, arrived at the Oval Office at 8:35 am this morning and spent 10 minutes alone in the office, according to the new White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs.

Obama read the note to him from Bush in the envelope marked "To 44 from 43.''

It looks like something out of 1976. The straight-back chairs are OK, but the couches are hideous.

And that desk needs some love. The gold inlay is fading and the wood looks chipped under the lacquer.

P.S. And the fireplace needs painting. There is black stains on the mantle from previous fires/heat.
