WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican lawmakers Wednesday forced the Senate Judiciary Committee to postpone for one week a vote on U.S. attorney general-nominee Eric Holder.

Holder appears virtually certain to win ultimate confirmation by the full Senate. But committee Republicans invoked their right for a one-time, one-week postponement of the scheduled vote Wednesday.

Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the panel's ranking Republican, said members of his party on the panel wanted more time to examine the nomination.

6. Specter knows that all of his lots of chat and no
action re Bushco is about to be exposed. They can't stop the appointment.
