There's been a lot of talk about the 1st amendment and rightwing talk. |
|
My take is the following:
Many of our government officials were lying to the people and used these talkers to create a following of believers of those lies.
These rightwing talk shows are on channels that tout themselves as news channels or "newstalk".
When I think of the 1st amendment with what the framers had in mind, they meant the right of the public to freely criticize the government and seek redress publicly.
In some ways, I see this as different ideas or intentions. Therefore, I have no problem with tackling this modern problem either in the form of disclaimers that these people aren't news people or reinstating the fairness doctrine. We have millions of people ill informed and highly propagandized which has made it easy for this country to be led down this road to hell.

1. I'm more concerned about their talk on the 2nd Amendment |

Some of these right wing websites and talk shows are flat out becoming hysterical and ultimately they potentially pose a danger to the country.
But you are correct, many of these so-called news and political discourse outlets are nothing but disseminators of propaganda and serve no purpose but to widen the divide in the country they have created and put us all at risk.
