Did you get the digital converter box? |
|
If so, what kind? is it working with rabbit ears?
Last Friday we lost cable, and did not get it back until Wednesday. Apparently our neighbor cut "our" cable. He did not experience any problems with his service.
Thankfully, we still have the rabbit ears one that allowed us to watch the inauguration. And.. a few days ago we got our coupons.
It has a list of where to purchase them which is kinda strange: a major food store?

one is a motorola and not sure about the other one but I connected the motorola and it works fine with the rabbit ears we bought at the same time for it, the antenna is also compatible with the old teevee signal. My son was using a coat hanger with a piece of aluminum foil on it for a while and it seemed to work fine too. Have to keep in mind we are only about 25 miles from the tower where they all broadcast from around here

11. I just wonder where they keep them |
|
Not in the produce isle, or the dairy..
Perhaps where they keep batteries and lottery tickets..

He bought one and then later decided to buy a brand new tv, so he passed it along to someone who needed it. Freebies are always nice.
It works just fine, but we've always had good television reception from our rooftop antenna, (eta:)so I think this may account for the good reception more than the converter box itself. I've heard the converter boxes don't work well with rabbit ears.
(Edited for clarity.)

15. It's a Magnavox. On edit: It may not help. |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-23-09 05:16 PM by Herdin_Cats
I even looked up the model number for ya: TB100MG9
Edited to add: I think the reason I've have such good reception is that I have a good, large rooftop antenna. I've heard that the converters don't work well with rabbit ears. So your problem may be your antenna, not your converter box.

Hooked it up to rabbit ears for local channels in our summer residence. The rabbit ears work very well, and we have many more channels. I can't remember the brand, as it was about 6 months ago, and I am not there to look at it.

13. Go to www.dtv2009.com |
|
But check this out - yesterday I was in Walmart (yeah I shop there) and they had TV's - not the flat kind - the other kind - for $144 - and they were all set up for the digital conversion.
We're lucky because we have satellite and it's automatic.

14. Zenith makes a good one. The RCA 12 position antenna is good. |
|
It handles UHF and VHF. If you are handy, you can make a good antenna out of six wire hangers, some wood and screws. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWQhlmJTMzw

If I do anything, I'll get an ATSC tuner card for my PC. I've been without television for a year now and have managed to view practically anything I want, online. The tuner card will let me pick up local digital networks as well as record video so, to me, the tuner card is the preferable setup.

17. Yes, viewing online is nice except when... you cannot get online |
|
as happened to us for almost a week.
And I am not going to watch an hour program at work or even at a public libarary.
Perhaps at a WI FI cafe..

20. With a tuner card, your PC becomes a HiDef television |
|
If you need to, you can hook the cable or satellite into their respective ports on the tuner card. :)

32. ATSC is the new digital format... NTSC is the old anolog format. |
|
Just remember "NTSC" means "Never The Same Color"
and "ATSC" is "Always The Same Color"

it supposed to be one of the best. I have cable but I have a couple TVs that aren't connected to it so I had to get boxes for them. The rabbit ears I had for those TVs were just cheapies and I need better ones cause now they don't pull in much with the converter boxes. :argh: :-(
