Gitmo only holds 245 people |
|
I know it is very symbolic but after that give me a break 245 people. We have a tons of problems and we are this focused on 245 people. That makes me so mad WTF do you know how many people need help ? tens of thousands if not more.

2. Many went through there. Many were released. Over 50% |

were neither connected to terrorism nor the Taliban nor took up arms against the US but were rounded up for bounties by locals in Afghanistan. Time to close the door on the darkness and shame. Time to honor our laws, treaties, and Constitution and begin to enter the club of modern civilized countries and quit being an outlaw state.

10. I know it's very signifant |
|
but my god when I realized yesterday it was 245 people-who cares there are thousands dyeing and going homeless is this a distraction I don't know but 245 and then 10's of thousands suffering. Why do we care for political reasons let it go and help the homeless-newly homeless and those about to be homeless. 245 people really deserve this much work-I don't think so anymore.

4. It would not seem so insignificant if even one of those was a member of your family. |

It is not just symbolism. It is the US following the rule of law. It is the reality that we have held people without access to justice. We do have much work to do in many areas, but this is one that we can rectify relatively quickly. Why not do it?

6. We can all walk and chew gum at the same time. So can the Obama administration. |
|
But we HAD to stop the torture immediately. We HAD to order Gitmo closed. Closing it is a lot more than symbolic to those who may have been tortured there. And it's a lot more than symbolic for the US to end the abuse and respect the rule of law.
