Mr. Conyers, there is already a "commission" in place to investigate Bushco crimes: |
|
It's called the HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, and YOU chair it. Investigate already.
There is also a group called the DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, over which your committee has oversight. Let them know you expect an investigation, and if they don't do it, hold them accountable.
"Commissions" as you want set up are where criminal charges go to die.
DO YOUR JOB!

7. The only remaining explanation for no proscecution would have to be threats against Conyers |
|

and anyone else investigating. A few years ago, his and his staff's "Constitution in Crisis" said more than enough to begin not only impeachment, but proscecution. This is supposition, but I can think of no other explanation. The crimes are too clear, too severe, and too numerous to not loudly begin investigating.
We STILL don't know anything about who caused 9/11, and the intelligence community seems completely happy to wait until the subject becomes moot. The longer it remains an utterly unconcerned mystery, the more I believe MIHOP. Those reasons, and the severe obstruction everyone encounters when attempting to investigate.
Prove me wrong and I'll be truly happy that you've done so. Until then, it remains utterly astonishing that the country's intelligence communities have remained inconclusive

I think far too many people fall into the GOP idea that "government is the problem" and every existing program needs to be replaced.
I agree that we already have everything we need to govern. We may have to "adapt" what already exists to new situations, but there's no need to re-invent the wheel.

14. Bushco had all their crimes classified |
|
President Obama will have to sign an EO ordering the immediate declassification of every bit of classified information Bushco abused to cover up their crimes.
That's the reason it's impossible--for now--to investigate the Bush crimes. First, the information has to be made public before the Obama admin can prosecute.

the lights are on but there's nobody home. It's why their approval rating has been in the gutter for years. If you did your job the way they have done theirs you'd have been fired in a week.

16. meow2u3, is it possible that all the evidence needed to prosecute is classified? Seems |
|
to me there's plenty that is public domain that would get the ball rolling until President Obama authorizes declassification.

18. You are correct, but a more thorough reading might assuage our fears that this is |

a coverup. Remember that President Obama has the authority to declassify.

Though you have to give him credit for consistency. His position has always been the same:
"Something MUST be done!! ... er, at some later time ... and by someone other than me."
No failure could be more abject.

had rather set up a commission to pretend is was attended to, reach a conclusion short of full disclosure, and bury the issue.

It's very disappointing to realize this, but Conyers is a huge failure. It's not up to us to guess why he's failed but he needs to be replaced as soon as possible.
