My email to members of congress regarding the stimulus
I would like to urge each of you to strongly consider supporting H.R. 1 – The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the Senate bill that will be forthcoming.

As the republicans among you will undoubtedly recall, one of the main factors in your party's overwhelming loss in the presidential race and a reason for your loss of majority status in the House and Senate is the state of the economy in this country. As 8 years of the Reagan Administration and 12 years of Bush presidencies clearly establish, trickle down economics; i.e. Tax cuts in a vacuum, do not work to stimulate the economy. The majority of this country is painfully aware that the rich do not create more jobs when given a tax cut. They retain their windfall. Greed takes over and the citizens of this country, especially those in the middle and lower class, suffer.

I am a resident of the state of Michigan. I am a paralegal and my husband is the owner of an electrical contracting firm. Luckily I seem to have a stable position as my husband's company may not be in business much longer! The true "trickle down" is economic hardship when, as the result of ill conceived trade policies, manufacturing jobs are shipped overseas. As a result, corporations lay off or close their doors, people move out of the state or simply and tragically loose their jobs. As a result, new homes are not built, people put off making repairs or upgrades to their homes and the construction business suffers. People are laid off or let go, doors of businesses close, people leave the state and as a result, restaurants close, retail establishments fail, and again, people lose their jobs, lose their homes, lose their healthcare and are dependent on unemployment or welfare and medicaid. We are in a vicious downward spiral. While Michigan has been hit exceptionally hard, we are now seeing the crisis spread to every state.

Now is NOT the time for partisanship. Now is not the time for divisiveness!
You must put the interests of your constituents first and your political aspirations and ambitions last. This is NOT a game. The lives of Americans have been drastically effected by failed policies that have been put into place through strong-arming and "my way or the highway" tactics. I for one and sick and tired of government that works only for its own interests instead of the interests of the people of this country. I am tired of deliberate falsehoods and propaganda being spread for motivations that have nothing whatsoever to do with the common good.

Our president has given each of you every opportunity to work with him to get this country out of the mess it is in. Its time to act like adults. Get the job done!

1. Congratulations for being an involved citizen
Now what does the bill offer to you or yours? Nada. We need national healthcare. That will create a chain reaction of jobs, disposable incomes (for projects that an electrical contractor may be useful), and the USA can finally join the developed world with its citizens happy and productive.

3. who ever said that healthcare wasn't a priority of the Obama administration?
And the bill does assist me and my family under many of its provisions. You may want to read it.

2. I love your active involvement. I hope you send your note
to as many members as you possibly can. I am constantly firing off notes to my representatives and those of other States because they all share in and impact our nation.

5. Thank You!.. tomorrow
I'm going to be stuck inside, so I'm going to take advantage of the snow storm and call D.C. It will be my first time 'reaching out to Republicans'. Got to get some kind of a script going. If I tell the person on the other end I'm from Massachusetts, do you think they'll hang up on me?
