Pittsburgh schools to have 2-hour Super Bowl delay

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals have yet to meet in Super Bowl XVIII, but a few thousand people are already winners: the staff and students of the Pittsburgh Public Schools system.

Superintendent Mark Roosevelt says the district will delay classes by two hours on Monday morning in hopes of reducing absenteeism the day after the game.

City school officials did the same thing the day after the Steelers won Super Bowl XL three years ago.

The district normally reserves the two-hour delay for weather conditions that make it difficult to get to school.

1. Look at it like this
If the Browns ever even played in the game, the Cleveland schools would have to close for the year.

2. When Seattle was in the Super Bowl
Starbucks made lattes flow in the streets!

(ok, not really, but wasn't it funny anyway?)

3. When The Royals won the World Series
there was a huge parade in downtown KC. And we thought the kids should get out of school. Enough parents called and asked that school be out so their kids could go to the parade that the superintendent sent out a memo to all the students and the teachers. I will never forget it. It said

The Kansas City Royals did not become World Champions by taking days off

Still pisses me off. I so wanted to go to that parade. LOL
