Seriously - is Daschle worth it?
All President Obama gets with this appointment is a loss of credibility. Daschle is damaged goods.

5. Unfortunately those guns seem to be protecting Daschle and pointed at us.

Possibly the president has no choice in the matter and his role is to get out in front of the public and calm the citizenry.

23. What's up with "damaged goods" when someone originally failed to pay tax but then did pay it ...
with penalties and interest? At that point, the 'event' is over.

3. Do you think in a couple of months anyone will really give a darn?
Once Daschle is in and a few months go by, no one will care one way or another and everyone's focus will be on something entirely different..Daschle has always been able to work with most people in the Senate and probably still can. I know there will always be a few that no one can deal with but Daschle is very amiable..

Not with Howard Dean around. He would be a better choice anyway.

11. Personally, I don't think so. He's always been way to laid back and
non-confrontational to susit me. The same problem I have with Harry Reid. BUT< I didn't pick hom, Obama did, so I'm willing to give him a shot.

12. How Can Daschle Function In His Role If He - As The Press Secretary Just Said .....
will not work with those insurance companies he's previously had contact with? I don't trust Daschle. This is really very damaging to President Obama's credibility. Is that credibility worth putting in jeopardy? I'm sorry but this has knocked a few notches out of my faith in the President.

If the Repugs are willing to go along with and let Daschle be confirmed - then - I believe that there is something going on behind the scenes that don't bode well for any kind of real healthcare reform.

I'm really disappointed in the President.

13. short answer;no.
the longer version;he was an ineffectual leader, even if he wasn't compromised by his wife's lobbying.
now that he's been a lobbyist himself he's even less useful.

He's a good man, but this sort of nonsense has got to stop.

I don't care which side is doing wrong, I'm just sick of it.

As the average Bush appointee send up for consideration over the last 8 years. Dems need to quit twisting their knickers.

21. No. This is the one appointment I'm very unhappy about and
it's got nothing to do with taxes. It boils down to whether or not United Healthcare will be writing the plan for universal coverage.

22. I think he's a liability
as close as he's been to the insurance industry, we can forget about any meaningful (meaning single payer) health care reform.
