The "Buy American" stipulation shouldn't apply to fair-trading partners like Canada

I'm reading a lot about how Canada is upset with the "Buy American" stipulations in the stimulus bill. The legislation should be specifically tailored so as to prevent a trade war with one of few fair trading partners we have (like Canada).

Now China and India? Those are the nations most responsible for sinking the USA into a bottomless trade deficit. Buy American all the way when it comes to those two.

2. Both China and India have closed their markets to our (domestic-made) products

And China especially dumps their crap on our shores. Therefore, it is only to the U.S.' benefit to close its markets to China and India; there's no "trade war" when there isn't any "trade" to begin with. As for Canada - trade with a responsible, fair trading partner should always be encouraged.

Aren't they the same as our agreement with Mexico, which is hardly fair?

12. Not many, except the lasagna from A&P tonight for dinner (frozen, 80oz. $5.99)

They provide us with most of our imported oil, building products, a lot of manufactured goods. And great beer.
