Is there anyone here that ever cheated a little on their taxes? |
|
It really doesn't matter whether it was for a hundred dollars or a hundred thousand dollars. Cheating is still cheating..I would venture a bet that a good portion of those people that are really upset over Daschle have done something very similar themselves.. I understand that when dealing with such large sums it seems unseemly but like I said whether it is a hundred dollars or a hundred thousand the crime is still the same.

2. Yeah, but as an official second-class citizen, I don't feel bad about it |

Once I have all the rights and privileges of straight people, I might be a little more careful.

The IRS caught it and fixed it.
No big deal.

23. Yeah, I did that one year too. Checked the wrong box. |
|
Somehow I checked a box for being over 65 AND blind. I was 32 and had no physical limitations of ANY kind, so it was a really evident error. I got a letter in the mail a few weeks later saying that they thought I'd made a mistake and they had corrected it for me.
I about fainted up to the part of the letter saying they had corrected it for me. I was having visions of facing the IRS version of The Spanish Inquisition.

7. How many have been Senators and are trying for a Cabinet position? |
|
We need clean government. I know that sounds like a naive expectation, but it shouldn't. Why should we settle for cheats? That has been the modus operandi for far too long. If someone is in an official position of power, I want them to be clean.
All cheats and crooks should go.

But most definitely did incur.
Probably technically cheating, but morally fine.

"good portion of those people that are really upset over Daschle have done something very similar themselves.."
WHAT?
Oh wait -- we're NOT supposed to get upset because a public official *forgot* about his taxes. Or, wait, I think I've got it -- the DEGREE of our anger automatically makes US tax cheats -- sort of "the guilty yell the loudest" type of defense?
SHEESH.
Personally, I'm waiting for the *Dog Ate My Homework* excuse for the next nominee for a cabinet post. :sarcasm:

Scary. Long. Time consuming. In the end, I passed their test. I used to keep every receipt I thought mattered (thank goodness). Now I keep boxes, and boxes of every paper and receipt that seems even remotely important. Still shaking from that audit.

21. I've done my best to follow the instructions, but it ain't easy! |
|
Back when my son was two, we filled out his tax form. The instructions said "Taxpayer signature". No mention that a parent or guardian should sign for a minor. We read, and re-read, every instruction we could find. Nothing. Just instructions for the taxpayer to sign.
So we shrugged, handed our two-year-old a pen, and instructed him to sign his name. He made some scribbles on the paper, we dated it and mailed it off.
Shortly thereafter, we got a call from the IRS. The agent exclaimed in horror: It looks like a two-year old signed this!
Ummmm... yeah... look at the age of the taxpayer.
She insisted I sign it, but I refused. I asked her for the form number of the instruction document saying someone other than the taxpayer should sign, but she couldn't produce one. I told her I felt it would be fraudulent for me to pose as my son.

22. Now who the hell in their right mind would admit to it on the internet |
|
. . .
and the idea that it is the same crime for 100 bucks as a hundred thousand is also wrong
To extrapolate that, the rape of the USAmerican economy by the BushGang/PNAC crowd of TRILLIONS of dollars should only get the spanking that the 100 dollar thief gets . .
and there ya go
USAmerica getting raped financially by the PNAC gang - and they only get a spanking - not EVEN -
Some of them got BILLIONS of your tax dollars to "make it right"
frigadee
we are SOOOOOOOOO dumb.!!!!

28. I didn't "cheat", but there are ways to fudge a little. |
|
When you own rental property, certain expenses are "maintenance" and are deducted in the current year and some are "improvements" and have the deductions scheduled over a period of years.
Most expenses can be slid into either category so you can decide when you want the deduction. It's not a cheat, but it's definitely using the numbers to your advantage.

They have more guns so I don't have a choice if I want to live.
Do you think they feel bad if they cheat the taxpayer?
I kind of doubt it, they don't pay them back with interest and penalties, do they?
