Excuse me, a student was decapitated in a freaking coffee shop at V. Tech?
This happened like TWO WEEKS ago and we didn't hear that much about it?

DECAPITATED??? WTF? In the US?

Have we become so used to violence that we (wife and I) possibly heard about this, and just glossed over it because we were just busy???

Holy shit.

This country has gone straight to hell. It's scary.

But voyeuristic perverts are hardly anything new to this country.

He was holding her head in his lap when police arrived.

It's awfully hard to decapitate someone, so that knife must have been something serious.

Decapitations aren't nearly as common shootings.
At least in this country.

I did hear something about this a couple of weeks ago - a couple of poorly-written paragraphs from the AP. I am surprised that more sensationalist sources of media didn't run with the story, though.

8. Yes, very sad story and very bizarre. And it was in the news a lot.
I remember reading about it a few times.

The part of me that has no faith in the integrity or morality of the Chinese government makes me wonder if this was a personal thing... or perhaps more likely, something the government wanted. Which we'll never know, I'm sure.

Washington Post and all that.

Guy just whipped out a knife and cut her head off in a coffee shop.

Chinese students, both of them.

Clearly, he needed decaf.

Virginia Tech is not on a lucky run.

34. Makes one wonder if the Chinese government is somehow plotting a takeover the US
but their spies fucked up by telling them that the key to US security is making students afraid to be at V. Tech., causing them to leave, and thus leaving the buildings empty and ready for the Chinese to turn into a secret headquarters from which to launch an attack on... West Virginia?

The other day I found myself musing that that woman in California who just popped eight babies was secretly in love with her fertility doctor and this was just her diabolical plan to get him to be with her, after his medical license is lifted and he's ordered to pay child support for those eight kids.

It's possible that the Fuckface years have had more of an impact on us than we thought?

Probably working with the Chinese, too. You agreed with me so readily, it's suspicious.

And I'm always horrified when the local Los Angeles news reports on a house fire in Dubuque, IA! I mean, come on! LA has as many people as a lot of small countries! You mean to tell me there wasn't something going on in LA today?

I tend to agree with the other poster who said the victim wasn't sensible enough to be a cute, young blond. Now, I'm blond, and I'm still rather cute, but since I'm no longer young, I'll never make the news should I be murdered... decapitated or otherwise.

Time to take back the media! I'm sick of news being an entertainment industry!!

46. Murders are generally local news
I doubt the mother who killed her daughter because her boyfriend more or less told her to in my neck of the woods is making headlines in the States.

As someone said elsewhere in the thread, a whole lot of people get killed in North America with a depressing level of regularity. Just because one of them is "interesting" doesn't mean that there aren't considerably more important things for most news agencies outside of the immediate vicinity to spend their time on.

It's not only that, but incidents like this seem to be happening more often. Add to that all the problems we are facing, personally and as a country, I can see how something like this can be easily forgotten.
