"Clean" Coal ad banner on DU?
Why is this ad running on DU? Seems counter to the majority opinion held here that there is no such thing as "clean" coal. So who are they trying to sell this to?

3. I was just about to explain once again how internet advertising works.
But I'll just let your statement suffice.

5. You are going to see threads like this
until DU starts blocking advertisments they should be blocking. We don't see racist ads. We don't see anti semitic ads. We don't see ads for GOP candidates but we continually see ads like this and homophobic ones. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or a conspiracy theorist to think there is something wrong with that picture.

6. (shrug) I don't see ads at *all*, so I'll take your word for it.

8. I don't either
though I purposely looked for a week or two unsigned in to see just what ads did exist. It was eyeopening. Anti gay marriage websites predominated in all threads about marriage equality for example. I don't think people who are visiting this site should see ads for focus on the family style groups anymore than they should for stormfront.

9. A screenshot sample or two would be useful, perhaps...
Yah - that does sound shitty.

10. I think a thread like this caused them to disappear
hopefully the same will happen with the clean coal ads but until these threads get posted, the ads just keep on trucking.

2. I'm glad DU is taking their money, but let's be clear: there's no such thing as "clean coal."

7. Yes there is.
You can not defend yourself against an attacker by denying its existance. Clean Coal is actually the name of a Department of Energy program that has been going on for over a decade now and at an expense of billions of dollars. Of course it is also the popular name of a propoganda campaign to promote (wrong word - insure would be a better one) the use of coal at at least something like current rates of burn. Want to know something, nothing is going to stop us from burning that coal so the prudent thing to do is invest heavily in finding ways to do without causing harm.

11. That's a different issue from preventing increase or investing in new burning.

12. GOOGLE ads are as stupid as GOOGLE search
I seldom use GOOGLE as a search engine because for me it brings up a bunch of crap that I have to wade through to find what I want. I have much better luck with a meta engine like dogpile.
