Job Losses: Comparing Recessions

The current contraction is far far worse than the prior downturns: 3.6 million — and counting — job losses as of yesterday is worse than the 2.7 million jobs lost in the 2001 recession, and far worse than the 1.6 million job losses in the 1990-1991 recession. 2.09.09

One thing worth noticing:
All recessions except 1 were started under Republican Administrations

1948 - 49 Recession (Truman, Democrat)
1953 - 54 Recession (Eisenhower, Republican)
1958 Recession (Eisenhower, Republican)
1960 Recession (Eisenhower, Republican)
1974 Recession (Nixon, Republican)
1982 Recession (Reagan, Republican)
1991 Recession (Bush 41, Republican)
2001 Recession (Bush 43, Republican)
2008 (Current Recession) (Bush 43, Republican)

If this doesn't explain Republican policies, then you need to get you head out of your a$$!

7. No %'s.
But statistics show that we as a society have to create about 180,000 jobs each month just to keep pace with all the 18 year olds, and college students entering the job market.

So the earlier recessions will have less jobs. With less jobs, the percentage of job losses is going to be equal or greater in percentage values.

So the current recession, even with the greater job loss, percentage wise it may be lower.
