Here's something fun (and worthwhile) you can do with the books you love. |
This idea is new to me and I love it. The idea is to read a book, then "release it into the wild" (but in an organized way) so others can read it. It's sorta like an underground operation in which people leave gifts in public places where strangers will find 'em. This group has been around for years, but I'm always the last to hear about good ideas: http://newsgrinder.blogspot.com/2007/03/read-any-good-books-lately-release-them.html

1. We wind up with religious books all over our waiting room with that method. |
Not that there's anything wrong with that. :) But religious organizations seem to have a jump on that.

2. LOL ... But I looked through the lists of what they're leaving in public... |
...and what they're sharing with each other. Not religious -- but, hey, I was checking out the thriller/suspense fiction.

3. Interesting concept. But I don't know if I'd want to register and track a book I released. |
The 'release packages' run from $19.95 (25) to almost $100 (100). Isn't the same thing, to just give them to your local library or charity?

5. Probably -- if you're not snoopy, like I am. |
I like the feedback angle to this. But then I also registered with that site that lets you trace where your dollar bills have traveled. I like messages coming back from the outer world.

4. I've been doing this for years, and |
altho I've released bunches of them, I've never found one. There is also a "mail-around" website out there. They tell you how to get on the bottom of a list, and you send the top person a book, and eventually, you get a bunch of books. I sent off a book to RI, but never got one back.
Sigh.
