I agree, worrying about a poll seems silly.

However, nobody on DU is a lower information voter who might turn on the cable news for about ten minutes a day and consider ourselves "informed."

Therefore, we have to be on top of these silly polls just as much as the freepers are.

If tomorrow morning, Sally from suburbia, who voted for Bush twice but voted for Obama in 2008, turns on her TV and sees that 70% of people think Pigboy is an epic fail, and all of her friends watch it too, and then they all later meet up at the play group with their kids, then they will have that "perception" and maybe, talk about what an epic fail the GOP is, making the poll that much important as this information is cemented by wanting to be like ones' friends and neighbors....AND, on the "winning side."

This scenario is cynical and sad, but you must admit, true.

I know, I got a little carried away with my take on this. I think polls are silly, too, however, in a sad way, they do matter and we cannot allow the GOP echo chamber to dominate the "perceptions game" as we did in the 90s.
