They put too much money into government, they didn't cut taxes enough, and they didn't sell the war well enough. If we had only allowed drilling in ANWR there would be no energy crisis and gas would be back to a buck a gallon. If we had only privatized Social Security, there would have been trillions of dollars more available to the financial industry and there would have been no banking crisis. If we had only fired all those damned busybody government regulators, there would have been no embarrassing discoveries of improprieties on Wall Street.
