Gloria Estefan says CIA tried to recruit her as a spy
Source: UK Daily Telegraph

Cuban-born singer Estefan, 52, said she was approached by the Central Intelligence Agency to become an undercover agent because of her language skills.

At the time the young singer was working as an interpreter for US Customs at Miami International airport.

"They realised I was someone who could pass as a regular person without raising any eyebrow," she told the Miami Herald.

"So the CIA approached me and wanted me to train in their Atlanta HQ," she added.

3. More to this story.
Estefan is the daughter of a general who served under Baptista in Cuba before Castro took over. She had connections.

She and her family have been permanent guests at B.F.E.E. events, at least as far back as Poppy's White House squatting.

The "Flaca" (Thin One) in the pic below is her husband/producer's niece and co-hosts a popular gossip/entertainment show in the afternoons on Univision. She always mentioned it and showed souvenirs like napkins/place cards (a la Bah-bwah WAH-wah) the day after attending events at Shrub's squat-house. The Gordo (Fat One) takes the Dem side, saying that "MOST Hispanics don't support THAT political party." Although he did recount how, at the Miami airport, he was accosted by Jeb Crow Shrub who pointed at him and yelled, "El Gordo y la Flaca!1" This was in '04 and El Gordo said he might have to consider voting for Shrub because Jeb Crow had displayed gracious fanhood and awareness. And Jeb Crow actually speaks excellent Spanish----which doesn't hold sway over me, but incredibly his Spanish speaking WOULD, just by itself, sway SOME gullibles out there.

FWIW, Gloria ESTEFAN, despite the semi-glam shots in this thread, actually has a dowdy image.

12. She's also a Tobacco Industry tool

There is a lot of overlap with the two, CIA and Big Tobacco.

Objective: To demonstrate that Philip Morris and British American Tobacco Company attempted to ini-tiate a wide ranging campaign to undermine the success of the 8th World Conference on Tobacco orHealth held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1992.Data sources: Publicly available tobacco industry documents housed in Minneapolis, Minnesota,USA; Guilford, UK; on-line document websites; and telephone interviews with informed parties.Study selection: Those documents determined to be relevant to the companies’ campaigns against the8th World Conference on Tobacco or Health.

{snip}

Gloria Estefan’s “Save the children” tour When the Dietrich interviews previously described were rejected by Philip Morris on the grounds that the interviewees were not sufficiently well known in South America, the documents show that Dietrich offered an alternative. Popular US entertainer Gloria Estefan and Brazilian artist Xuxa would appear on a programme to publicly advocate for the importance of “vaccinating children” near the time of theconference. A letter from Dietrich to Philip Morris and copied to BAT states:

“ . . .Gloria Estefan has agreed to appear on our pro-gram and to actually host the television special. She will also agree to be interviewed for the newspaper articles and her manager has agreed to allow us to use several songs from her most recent concert tour. We now envision a one-hour television program hosted by Gloria Estefan. We have tentatively titled the television program: ‘Gloria Estefan’s Save the Children.’ Needless to say, Gloria Estefan is quite famous, not only in theUnited States but throughout Latin America.”

When asked whether this was done in direct competitionwith the 8th WCToH as the documents suggest, Dietrich replied that he did not think that was the case. He denied that BAT was involved in the media plan and PAHO denied that Dietrich was involved with PAHO’s immunisation programme.He also denied that it was part of any strategy aimed at weak-ening the 8th WCToH. PAHO officials acknowledged that the PAHO sponsored television special occurred, but disputed Dietrich’s role in it.
