Chuck Norris claims thousands of right wing cell groups exist and will rebel against U.S. government

The call by some right wing leaders for rebellion and for the military to refuse the commander in chief’s orders is joined by Chuck Norris who claims that thousands of right wing cell groups have organized and are ready for a second American Revolution. During an appearance on the Glen Beck radio show he promised that if things get any worse from his point of view he may “run for president of Texas.” The martial artist/actor/activist claims that Texas was never formally a part of the United States in the first place and that if rebellion is to come through secession Texas would lead the way.

Today in his syndicated column on WorldNetDaily Norris reiterates the point: “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

He continues; calling on a second American Revolution; “…we've bastardized the First Amendment, reinterpreted America's religious history and secularized our society until we ooze skepticism and circumvent religion on every level of public and private life.

How much more will Americans take? When will enough be enough? And, when that time comes, will our leaders finally listen or will history need to record a second American Revolution? We the people have the authority according to America's Declaration of Independence, which states: That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government…” .........(more)

And when Texas turns blue in two more election cycles, we'll just keep our second-largest GDP in the country, along with the only USAF training facility, NASA's Mission Control and Astronaut Training, all the contractors supporting them, the Texas Medical Center and research facilities there, all the oil & energy companies (as well as the means to control prices on those commodities), the Amarillo nuclear weapons facility, the busiest shipping port on the continent, and the UTMB infectious diseases facility in Galveston. That's just off the top of my head. There's plenty more if you care to look it up.

I'm not saying we're flawless; nobody is (unless you happen to hail from some perfect utopia on the planet...) But I do think the country as a whole would be severely lessened without the TMC. Yet we have the Brainless Brigade here, that seem to think the United States would better off if they were to excise Texas from their continental maps. Are their respective states any better? Do they have flaws that are reported in Mother Jones and the like? I would say so.

I was responding to the brainless Anti-Texas/Anti-South amongst DU-ers in this thread. If you are counting yourself in their ranks, then I suggest you brush up on your wall-building skills, so we can get on with being a country again and leave the RW brainless to you and your "superior" medical professionals :P

...hate the south, and any progressives who live there are guilty without any chance to prove innocence. They are considered "collateral damage" as long as the south they percieve, mostly through embracing stereotypical thinking, is wiped off the map. I can't help remembering a particular post from one of these "progressives" hoping for a natural, or manmade disaster to strike one of our cities so that Obama, on behalf of democrats everywhere but the south, could withhold federal emergency aid to punish them for, well, being the south. Calling for the deaths of women, children, and men makes this DUer, and those who's narrow thinking mirrors his/hers, worse than the repukes they claim to despise. They liked us for our Obama votes up to the time he was elected, but will always hate us for where we live, and their stereotypical perception of who we "really" are. The banter enjoyed by southern democrats here at DU is a thin veneer which only becomes transparent when threads in the vein of this one arises. It's then you become aware of the true feelings of many so-called open-minded progressives. Narrow-minded, and easily influenced nitwits. Thanks.

family on my mom's side came from the south and migrated to Oregon after the Civil War. My great Grandpa fought with Shelby's raiders and ended up caught. He escaped and hid in Illinois until the war was over. Then he came west, farmed, magistrated and taught his family to honor people regardless of color and class. Not all southrins are stupid. Just the ones related to Chuck Norris.

it's the climate, that hot, humid, sweltering weather, the lack of anything more steep than the Hill Country and the wonderfully flat land of Houston :D

I've been told by some Australians that the Hill Country reminds them of the interior of their country. Now if only they weren't going through such a severe drought, I could live there, too :)

I prefer early spring, late fall, and our brief winter to the rest of the sweltering year. That being said, I am doubtful that I could ever meet the likes of the fabulous democratic friends I have made anywhere else.... like diamonds being formed by heat and pressure, Texas has bred some amazing people... Just look to Molly, Ann, and Barbara.

Texas is the only state I've ever been run out of, escorted to the state line and told to never come back by a highway patrolman, strictly because I had long hair and was driving a convertible with Missouri tags. I only do such a thing in threads like these because of posters like yourself that refuse to look at the big picture and why such a move as excising Texas from the US would be a supremely bad move for every citizen, including you. If you can't see that, then I strongly suggest doing some research into the consequences of Texas seceding. Maybe, just maybe, you'll understand why we support our state and count ourselves amongst the rest of the Liberals on DU.

You should look at my first post to this thread. I never once say I'm a proud Texan. What I do point out in that post is more of the whole picture, of why you really would lose if we seceded. Which we can't do legally anyway. It's a myth, perpetuated here by the Texas-Bashers and by wingers.

Good for you, holding no illusions for your state. It is better to think of oneself as a native to the world, as a "world-citizen". But as long as people are going to bash a single area of the planet solely for the actions and words of a few that happened to be born in that same area, then I will defend the rest of us that also happened to be born in that area from the slings and arrows of the barbarians that would feel "no loss" at our demise.


However, I will say that I have wanted to get a few of those "Native Texan" bumperstickers. I need a few because it might take that many to edit them into one that says "Native Terran" :P

I have no idea when, exactly, he went totally raving mad, but I have it on several good authorities that he used to be a decent dude, basically a good man. He was a force to be reckoned with in competitive karate way back and though I never met him I have known a few people who've trained with him and otherwise worked with him (business partner, sparring partner, stuntman) since at least the '70s and they said he was a good hombre though one very long-term comrade I knew in the early '90s noted that he was by then incisively business-savvy and he also dropped subtle clues that Chuckie's time in Hollywood seemed to eventually go to his head a little (he didn't outright express disappointment, but that's a martial artist thing, kinda). I read Chuck's autobiography, titled something like The Secret of Inner Strength and found it somewhat inspiring, and there's no doubt he had to work through a few major obstacles to achieve what he did. I never really was much into his movies, and have only seen a few (it's been many years, but I did kinda like Hero And The Terror in which, to some extent, he played against type) and I've never seen the infamous Texas Ranger TV show, but I certainly did maintain a generally positive impression of the dude and couldn't help but admire the vitality that he'd retained.

Still, most of what I've seen from him in the last two or three years seems to be both monumentally stupid and steeped in the most out-there neocon-Republican fantasies possible, undoubtedly very much like those Rush Limbaugh would have were he able to achieve even one situp. The mock-admiring Chuck Norris jokes that've been run into the ground of late do, I admit, tickle me, but the real Chuck Norris has gone way beyond a joke. Way beyond. I don't know what happened to the man, or when it happened -- it's happened to others who once seemed sane, too, as the disease of Ugly Americanism became ever more entrenched under neocon rule -- but whatever lingering admiration or appreciation I once had for Chuck Norris as a martial artist and as a person may as well be for another person entirely. The new Chuck Norris is one crazy mofo. A seditious one, too, it would appear.

As for the Texas bashing, well...that's about as far from a surprise as it's possible to get. It's SOP here in DU. Texas, the South, California...wherever. I thought he was from Oklahoma, anyway. Regardless, I'll add my voice to the chorus of those who find much worth in the land and the people of the Lone Star State (though, yeah, I'm not too fond of large tracts of it...thing is, just like this country, it's large enough that there's petty much something for everyone). For one, if it weren't for Texas there'd be no Tejanas, and that would be tragic, indeed.
