The local news station had a reporter joining a Repon group in their search for vehicles. Yes, I realize that this is part of our misery, however those guys were chuckling and having fun and they reminded me of the Enron people chuckling "burn baby, burn" when they cut off power to California while brush fires were spreading.

did you notice the pages and pages of cars to be repo'd?
The poor lady who was warming up her car - they snagged it when she went back into her house... she left it unlocked and they just drove it away.

6. What was scary was another lady who had a mixup with the lender |
|
her car should not have been taken. She straightened the things with the lender but now they are fighting on who should pay the Repos.
We pay most of our bills via snail mail and last year one car payment just disappeared. And we were out of town so by the time we came back and realized it, the grace period was over. I guess I should consider myself lucky they did not send someone to take the car.

11. There needs to be some clamping down on these people |
|
Such that if they even blow their nose the wrong way they'll be a guest of the county for the next several months or so.

3. Well, there's enough people on DU who will put their hands on their hips and nag: |
|
"Well they shouldn't have lost their jobs and bought cars in the first place." I don't even own a car, and I count myself fortunate to not need one, but I do feel very sorry for those families who have their sole care repossessed, in these horrible times. I wouldn't cry if it's someone's second Lexus, but I know it's the working poor, who's lives depend on this transportation, because they can't afford to live in the communities where they work, who suffer the most.

7. I feel for many who lose their homes, their cars, their health benefits |
|
and I suppose repossessing their cars is necessary evil. But for the guys cheering and laughing at what is basically the misfortune of others was very cruel. I finally turned off the TV.

10. It's the last gasp of the cruelty left in this economy. Times are a swinging for the repo men today, |
|
but they too, will one day be out of a job. Will they laugh then?
On a side note, in my business, good credit is essential for our work. Well, recently we had a a person who was a debt collector provide their resume (there's nothing wrong with being a debt collector), but after looking into their background, we quickly found that they had an unlawful detainer of rent and were evicted, and their finances were in a shambles, their accounts were in collections, yet they were a debt collector. Yes, I know debt collections doesn't pay well, but quite possibly the yucking it up repo men were looking over their own shoulders. Sometimes everything is like an MC Escher painting.
