Anyone Else Find This Adm. Fall From Grace Painful - |
|
It is like death by a thousand bites.
I don't like Bush. I never liked Bush or anyone else in his adm. But I find this dismantling of this entire administration one inch at a time to be very painful.
One scandal after another - all completely deserved, I might add. The abuses of power of these people were awful - and probably unlawful. The greed, the hubris, the arrogance were unbelievable.
I just wish there was some way for a quick death - like lopping off the head of this hydra all in one fell swoop. And then getting back to basics. Rolling back all of their unbelievable changes in the law. Rolling back all of the damage they have done to the environment. Rolling back all of the damage they have done to our constitution. Rolling back all of the damage they have done to our image over seas. Rolling back all of the damage to the poor and disadvantaged.

2. Actually I'm having the opposite reaction |
|
I'm thrilled that their abuses are finally being exposed and discussed.
Look at it this way. We've had those thousand cuts for the last six years. Now they are being exposed to light, given antibiotics and being treated.

4. I agree with the sentiment; but it's not up to us |
|
If the Bush Administration would see the writing on the wall and give it up, I'd much prefer that for the reasons you state. But they seem determined to fight it out; and so it behooves us to fight back till the battles over. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

There was nowhere to fall - this was inevitable.
I'm just surprised it took this long.

6. It needs to be all out there so when history is re-written the facts can be presented too. |
|
I get a little tired of right wingers who say we don't need to investigate the lies that took us to war. We need to investigate every wrong doing we can so there is no way they can say it didn't happen.

However, I doubt that the educational value this administration provides will make the impact it should. American's are just too damn stupid.

but without a Just Us system, nothing will be done.
Before we believed they were crooks. Now is it proved they are crooks. Okay, so what. Moving on. Next.

11. The Republican Party even seems to be turning on Bush - bigtime. |
|
I just can't believe all of this - I just never thought I would get to see these guys brought down. I mean they have been awful. And Bush and Cheney arrogance has just been unbelievable - the body language, the swagger. Unbelievable.
It seemed like everyone knew what Bush and adm. were really like and simply didn't care - even supported his arrogance and hubris.
But they are falling way faster than I ever thought would happen.
All the news people keep referring to Bush as unpopular and weakend. This "unpopular and weakened President" is a phrase I have heard over and over again this week.

So what.
Have you heard any newsperson mention the fact that our Just Us system is a one party system? Have you heard them mention anything at all about what a one party Just Us system means?
Fine, Gonzales goes. They will just replace him with another Federalist GOPer and the whole mess continues.

10. Not painful - but disgusting. |
|
There were hints early on - starting with the Vanity Fair interview with the academic who was charged with leading the "Faith Based Initiatives" (DiLulio? sp?) - that there was NO concern with policy in this administration - ONLY with making political points.
Combine that with the stated goal of Rove to create a one-party rule govt stretching across the next generation.
Now one gets the picture of a venal govt that was run solely to perpetuate party with NO concern for actually running the country. In earlier admins of my memory (beginning with Carter) - there were differences among party of how to accomplish things - and sure some fringes supporting the parties varied with their belief of whether or not a role of govt was needed to address different particular issues. But then there was partisan compromise to formulate policies that actually were about attempting to run government.
This admin is new. Seriously it seems that they quietly were putting in place the infrastructure for a 'one-party' system that sorta makes me think of old totalitarian governments (think Soviets, think eastern europe) where the only way to live - to be employed to not be investigated by the govt was to pay homage to that party. The slow disclosures are disgusting to me on so many levels - as it emerges that this isn't, as many in the press suggest, just about trying to grab power for the Presidential branch of government, but instead is about trying to completely reshape the form of government in this country - ala basically by underminding and then by precedent changing (ending?) the Constitution as a compact for governance and the roles and responsibilities of the govt to its people and the people to its govt.

14. Oh, I think that happened - absolutely. |
|
This adm. wasn't about governing at all - it was all about politics and the establishment of their power system - and nothing and no one else mattered. I think that is what I found so astounding. That a cabal would try that kind of takeover in this country.
But it happened.
I keep thinking that we should make some kind of provision for the future - that no one political party can ever be in control of all branches of the government. It is too dangerous.

1. Determination that the implantation of Bush on this country by the SCOTUS was illegal and therefore unbinding. 2. Restore previous lawfulness of this country and undo all the shit this poo-flinger has inflicted on us.

13. No, it's gratifying to the nth that these thugs are finally transparent to those who |
|
were deaf, dumb, & blind for six long, excruciating years. When an administration is so crooked, from election day on, & propels me to sit in front of a computer on every single day to learn everything I can about their way of doing business, I feel relief that justice may be coming. I will never forget what they've done to this country.

Should have happened sooner. But at least its come.
Bush had his bunch just look like what they are - a bunch of really not very smart crooks.
I really think that if 9/11 had not happened Bush and his bunch would never have gotten away with the crap they did.

Let people see all the corruption WE have known about for YEARS. I am thoroughly enjoying watching them whine, squirm and lie.... only digging their freakin' hole deeper. Let 'em keep digging...sit back and enjoy.

In a perverse way. I do hope that some Dem candidates and organizations have the guts to point out that this is the third scandal like this in 30 years or so. Maybe we can reduce the repukes to something of a historical footnote.
I mean, what is the objective evidence? Basically, it's "get a repuke administration, get broken laws, get screwed".

20. I hear you..I felt the same weird compassion for Nixon |
|
To watch someone who had everything...who had the power to change the world blow it so completely is just pathetic.
When Bush made the speech in which he said " I have capital and I'm gonna spend it" I knew he was going to fall eventually... and hard. And yeah, I wish it wasn't so long and drawn out. But, honestly, I don't think that it can go any faster. BushCo has created an unusually intricate web of "crimes and misdemeanors" reaching into every single facet of our government and, unfortunately for all of us, investigation takes time.
We get back what we put out there.. and the monsterous crap BushCo has been flinging into the universe is returning to them ten fold. Bush and his minions deserve everything they get; every painful punishment, every moment of humiliation, every instant of abject fear because Justice is not just an ideal and karma is real, though sometimes it is a long time coming.
But still, it is not always easy to watch.

scha·den·freu·de (shäd'n-froi'də) pronunciation n.
Pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.
Rarely do I indulge myself in schadenfreude but this time I'm savoring it to the fullest.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

The ancient Greeks taught that Hubris would be followed by Nemesis. That's exactly what has happened to Bush. His arrogance has brought him down. He thought he was Master of the Universe, and he was only a poorly equipped elder son who slid into a job that was over his head. Now the swagger ("That's the way we walk in Texas") seems more and more arthritic.
