I kid you not. A friend had just "got the news" recently that after 2009 there'd be no mortgage deduction and no deductions for charity. She's a sweet lady but totally NeoCon and of course she had no sources for her information and there was no talking her out of it.

I just smiled and changed the subject. See what we're still up against?

4. I thought it was a pretty darn good rumor on their part..
Put it out there and see what sticks. Most people will just believe it when Beck/Hannity/Rush tells them something. It's kind of pitiful. This lady is a smart, funny lady till she talks politics.

8. He is trying to boost the housing market. Does she really think that doing
away with the mortgage deduction would help that goal?

THAT is what we're up against.

Why did you not ask her if she makes over $250,000 a year?

11. Obama Tax Deduction Plan DOA?

-- George Stephanopoulos

To pay for half of his $634 billion health reform fund, President Barack Obama has proposed limiting itemized tax deductions -- from mortgage interest to charitable deductions -- for wealthier Americans starting in 2011.

The plan may not be dead-on-arrival -- but it is pretty close.

In my reporting across Capitol Hill today, I couldn't find any strong support for the plan.

And it's strongly opposed by several key Democrats on the key Senate Finance Committee, including chairman Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont.

But the Obama administration is pushing back.
