Inhofe vows to put brakes on Gore’s ‘Live Earth’ concert at the Capitol
Source: The Hill

Fresh from his face-to-face tussle with former Vice President Al Gore, Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) is vowing to stall Gore’s hotly anticipated Capitol concert to draw attention to global warming.

Inhofe’s belief that climate change is “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people” is common knowledge in the capitol, and environmental groups cheered the new prospects for carbon-capping legislation when he ceded the Environment and Public Works Committee gavel this session. But Inhofe’s parliamentary powers can block indefinitely the resolution that would permit Gore to choose the capitol’s West Front for the U.S. leg of his seven-continent Live Earth concert tour — a collaboration between Gore and promoter Kevin Wall, who masterminded previous blockbuster charity concerts Live Aid and Live 8.

“There has never been a partisan political event at the Capitol, and this is a partisan political event,” Inhofe said yesterday.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) attempted late last week to pass the authorizing measure for Live Earth by unanimous consent. But Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) raised an objection on the floor, seeking more time for his side to look at the resolution.

(snip)

Chad Griffin, an adviser to Live Earth, was taken aback by Inhofe’s objections to using the Capitol to promote environmental health. The West Front was used to inaugurate Earth Day in a 1990 event, for which Gore, a former senator, sponsored the authorizing resolution.

23. It's weird, I have some kind of bizarre dyslexia, when I see Inhofe I process it as Asshole.
I actually have to copy and paste 'Inhofe' because when I try to write it myself it always comes out 'Asshole'.

And his name isn't the only one that triggers this response. Is it just me?

him. And at the moment there are more of us. The poles say the people agree with Gore.

They're still fighting to stop the 20th century even though the rest of the country lives in the 21st.

7. Yesterday I was in the checkout line at a local store and

overheard three of the employees talking about Gore and "An Inconvient Truth." One asked the other two if they had seen it. One had. The other hadn't. In the same breath the guy who hadn't seen it mentioned he isn't "a liberal." The first guy told him politics had nothing to do with it and that "we all live on the same planet. We all should be concerned about global warming. Gore is doing a public service. Go see the movie." That shut the other guy up. At that point all he could do is mumble that maybe he ought to.

If a kid working a Staples can get that it's non-partisan, what the hell is Inhofe's problem? Has he drunk so much kool-aid that it's permanently damaged his brain? What a moron.

19. Inhofe's corruption needs to be held up to the light of day.
http://www.thenation.com/blogs/outrage?pid=2211

Labeling global warming "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people" and comparing the Environmental Protection Agency to the Gestapo apparently wasn't enough for Senator James Inhofe. Unable to ram Bush's polluter-friendly Clear Skies Act through the Senate, the Chairman of the Environmental and Public Works Committee (EPW) ordered two national organizations opposing Bush's plan to turn over their financial and tax records.

The two groups attacked by Inhofe collectively represent 48 state and 165 local air pollution control agencies. Executive Director William Becker denounced Inhofe's order as "retaliation against some very legitimate criticism of 'Clear Skies,'" and said his groups have not accepted money from environmental activists or other private interests.

The same purity can't be applied to Inhofe, a long-time magnet for pro-polluter special interests. Since joining the Congress in 1994, Inhofe has accepted over a million dollars from the energy and natural resource sector, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. In the 2002 election, Inhofe received more money from big oil and gas companies than any other senator except Texas' John Cornyn. In return, big energy received a senator who's earned a zero rating from the League of Conservation Voters on six different occasions.

"Our door is open," Inhofe assured energy lobbyists upset over the Clean Air Act in 1998. "I'll sit down with you personally." He's kept his word. "Energy lobbyists are coming and going like a revolving door through the staff offices of EPW," Frank O'Donnell of Clean Air Watch told Grist magazine.

20. It is truly amazing......
It is truly amazing how people like Inhofe will make a fool of himself in front of millions of people (as he did trying to confront Mr. Gore in the hearing)and then come back and do it again and again and again.......

I guess anything to keep the blind minded radicals thinking they are on their side.
