Anybody else rehabilitating on the word PRESIDENT?
I've spent the last EIGHT YEARS cringing everytime someone referred to "President Bush." I found myself snarling in rage when he would get on the television and lie to our faces. I quickly learned that if something came out of the mouth of George W. Bush, it most likely meant the Exact Opposite was true. I was ashamed of our government, and frankly, I was ashamed the man was able to stay in power while dismantling the Constitution right in front of our faces.

But now, I am hearing "President Obama." I don't always agree with every word that comes from his lips, but I can listen without trembling in outrage. He is doing things I am proud of, and for the first time in years, I have hope our country will turn around, and be something to be proud of again.

I can actually watch this man on television, without automatically making obscene gestures at the television. I have sought out his speeches, looked at the white house website, and actually *care* about what he says.

I am not a lock-step follower of anyone, but I do trust him to do more good than harm to my country, my family, and me.

I am proud to be an American again, and I don't mind listening to MY PRESIDENT talk.

Its been less than two months; I wonder how long it will be before the bile doesn't start to automatically rise when I hear "President" before the peace that comes from the name "Obama"?

Lord, thank you for President Obama. Keep him safe, give him wisdom, and help him heal our country.

Amen.

3. I am truly shocked at what a difference it makes in my mental stress levels.
I breathe easier knowing he is at the helm. I worry for his safety, especially with traitors like Limbaugh and his ilk out there, but part of me is convinced they will make more money with Obama at the helm, as opposed to trying to explain why all of their ideas were -- what are those words? oh yeah -- WRONG AND STUPID.

2. I can actually utter the word...
...President now. I refused to refer to Bush as "President Bush" or "the President". He was always just "George" or "Bush" or "W" or "that fucking idiot".

4. I savor the phrase "President Obama" ... after 8 years without having a qualified person.
The Smirk & Sneer years left me without a designee for the term "President" that met the minimum qualifications I could accept in anything approaching good conscience. Barack Obama merits the title.

7. Here 's a website for you, then:

I agree with everyone here. For years, when I heard on the radio: "The President today addressed the..." I would snap it off hastily so as not to hear the putrid idiocy cascading out of the mouth of that crapulous bullshit artist.

Nowadays, I can listen without fear of assault on my intelligence. Now I can listen to President Obama speak to the nation as if we were intelligent, engaged people who can comprehend what he is saying. It's good to be back... B-)

6. Definitely -- I still instinctively dive for the remote when I hear the word "president" on TV.
Then the realization comes again and the world is good.

Not perfect, but so much better.
