Every year, and every year its shot down. Who are these idiots who keep bringing this stuff up? (both GOP and Dems do it)

all those supporting no presidential term limit should think ahead a little - a Republican or a Dem you don't like will eventually become president again.

8. two consecutive terms. |
|
I think the best way to go would be a two consecutive term limit, meaning that after serving for two consecutive terms, if they sit one out, they could run again. This keeps someone from accumulating two much power, but does not limit the country's use of talent.

12. Learn some history about how and when the 22nd Amend. was passed...... |
|
...."retrospective vengeance" by the GOP against the dead FDR.
All term limits anywhere are assaults on individual voting rights and not against politicians.
Bad enough we have the electoral college. With presidential term limits individual voters lose even more choice in selecting their President.

13. We not only need the 22nd, we should pass a new one re: nepotism |
|
The trend towards political dynasties needs to STOP. Between 1976 and 2004, there was never a presidential election without a Bush or Dole on the GOP ballot. And don't think Jeb isn't waiting to see what happens next. 2012, 2016 .. he's not that old yet.
And republicans aren't the only problem, though they're the worst. We just saw Caroline Kennedy was being vetted recently for NY senator on the basis that she's a Kennedy and therefore deserves it, and the Clintons have hinted at a political future for Chelsea several times. Sorry, nothing against Chelsea, but political genius is not hereditary no matter what the Bush and Clinton families would like America to believe.
I know there have been precedents in the past .. Benjamin Harrison, and FDR too. But I don't think its a good thing to keep on electing our leaders from within a small handful of families. What's the effective difference between that, and having a noble class?

Amendments are pretty short -- can you come up with a draft of an amendment that would outlaw nepotism?

Yeah, I could draft something. But you wouldn't like it when you got the bill ... I'm expensive. :hi:
