Rather than something like "unexpected outcome" he'll say something like "the heretofore unforeseen contextual ramifications and repercussions of the aforementioned circumstantial situation...blah blah blah."

I'm sure he has some fine points every now and then but he suffers from the belief that you sound smarter by using more words. People like that miss the point of communication. I have a feeling a lot of his "fans" feel like they have to applaud him so they feel smarter, too.

There is nothing wrong with using big words or words that many people don't use on a daily basis. That's the beauty of American English, there are so many ways to express viewpoints and ideas.

The point of communication is to convey a point. That's it. We're not talking about the point of stylistic literature here.

If you're out to impress people by using ten words to convey a two-word point (if you even have one), the point is usually lost on most people and all you've accomplished is coming across like a self-important phony. Dyson has earned that label many times over.
