Well well well, this should be interesting: Number of Lynn employees making top salary skyrockets
LYNN - As the country struggles with a financial mess, tent cities are popping up everywhere and unemployment and the number of foreclosures continue to soar, those working for the city are doing well, very well.

The number of municipal employees making $100,000 or more topped 180 in 2008 – up from 137 in 2007, 116 in 2006 and 113 in 2005.

A whopping 90 police officers dominated the list, with 39 school employees, 25 from the fire department, 17 from City Hall, two from Lynn Housing Authority and Neighborhood Development and seven from Lynn Water & Sewer - all taking home hefty paychecks in a slumping economy.

Monday, The Daily Item and ItemLive.com begins a weeklong special report on municipal salaries across the North Shore.

I know for a fact there are several city employees who have done NOTHING in years and get top salaries. It will be interesting to see how this enfolds. A former mayor wants to run....again. Jesus, get someone new in there.

3. Certainly a change from the days when cops didn't get squat.
Maybe unions do really work?

7. Ahh, I spent a little time in Malden. Right in the thick of the irish-italian standoff.

8. I love witnessing old resentments come to life
And in Lynn, there's always someone who fucked over someone else's kin even if they can't remember what it was....they're still holding a pisser of a resentment against whomever did it.
