"Real Time" Has Been Pretty Boring So Far This Season
Edited on Mon Mar-16-09 05:23 PM by stopbush
No real fireworks, no real insights. I think Bill is coasting.

It's a funny show. 3-4 people get on there as a panel and talk without commercial interruption for a good 30 minutes, and at the end of it, it seems like everyone involved got short shrift on being able to say their piece. Why is that?

New Rules has been particularly sucky this year.

1. Breitbart got his ass handed to him last week
Did you miss the dagger eyes he was giving the handee?

And it's 2 people on the panel this season

4. He needs to go back to the old "Politically Incorrect" format
4 or 5 guests all at once, sitting in a circle of chairs, a relaxed atmosphere that worked better than the 2 guests at a desk yelling at once.

5. Be careful, stopbush...........
I noted the other day - maybe Saturday - that Maher's New Rules weren't funny, and people went apeshit because I didn't think Bill Maher was funny.

Strange how having a different opinion than theirs makes some people crazy.

But, you're right. He's got nothing lately. I was never very taken with him, since I found him a weak derivative of the late, great Bill Hicks, but Maher did have his moments. His comment about 9/11, which cost him his ABC show, was, I thought, a dead-on and courageous observation. He should be very proud of himself for that.

To me, though, his observations have mostly been predictable and pedestrian. He needs new writers.

Now, if you need a place to hide, there's plenty of room behind Tangerine's hoop skirt:......................

7. Yeah it's been kind of a yawner. but he has KO scheduled for 3/20
I think Maher was a lot better when he could kick boosh around.

8. Well I hope at least it'll be better
than the last few times I watched. Besides, going back to the old format should help. That's when he was funnier. Nonetheless, I'll be getting this  and hoping I won't be doing this :boring: .

9. I turned last week's program off when Bill launched his "I'm not a homo" crap (again).
Bill's on our DVR list but we rarely watch him anymore. And when we do watch - he's often on a riff about how he's not a homo (or some variant of that routine). It's tiresome.
