The modern republican though isn't so hard to understand.... If you've ever had children. The modern republican is permanently stalled in the terrible twos. They understand and use two words only. NO! and MINE!. Once you come to the realization that you aren't dealing with a rational adult mindset and instead are dealing with a developmentally disabled (with great apologies to the truely DD) greedy little toddler with all the wonderful sociopathic social skills that a two year old has, then you know just how to deal with them.

Just one of those flashes of insight moments.

1. It's an emotional disability, not a developmental disability as the latter term

is conventionally used.

The sense of entitelment, the lack of empathy, the primal greed are, as you suggest due to what psychologists call fixations in earlier stages of emotional development. They generally manifest as personality disorders, especially narcissism and antisocial personality disorder, in adulthood.

I think maybe Republicanism is a treatable condition, actually.
