Obama Visit Draws Highest Tonight Show Ratings In 4 Years
Obama Visit Draws Highest Tonight Show Ratings In 4 Years

Posted on 20 March 2009 by Bill Gorman

An appearance by President Barack Obama, a first for a sitting president, delivered the highest Tonight Show rating in metered market households since the program’s tribute to Johnny Carson in Jan. 2005. The Tonight Show delivered an 11.2/26 rating Thursday, tying the Carson tribute and improving upon its season average by 187%. The last time The Tonight Show drew a higher metered market rating was May, 1998, following the Seinfeld series finale, when it drew a 12.4.

Just having Obama appear on the Tonight show improved the economy for the Tonight Show.

2. The college BB games were on CBS, so Letterman was on much later..and a repeat...
That certainly did not HURT the ratings for Leno, especially among the non-sports fans.

5. I would think so....particularly knowing that Letterman was a pretty strong supporter.

3. Great showing all around, and all I hear from the TV (while working!) is S.O. remark, and Shriver.
If the media and GOP don't stop stoking for their gain, I want Buffett to get equal time and tell them again they're unpatriotic in time of economic war. (Although not specifically repeated the first he appeared.)
