Poll question: My Idea of a Bonus |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 08:49 PM by Mike 03
I've been lucky enough to receive a bonus or two in my life, but it was never anything close to the kinds of numbers being discussed in these hearings.
When I worked for an insurance company, I got a one hundred dollar bill for a bonus and it made me euphoric.
Then later when I worked in finance, I would get bonuses of several hundred bucks but never, ever anything close to a thousand dollars or the kind of money we're talking about now.

1. I've never gotten a bonus at any job.... probably because I'm self employeed. lol |
|
My mom does get bonuses or "incentive pay" that equals 25% of her salary.
There are 2 kinds of bonuses I am familiar with. Small hundred-several hundred dollar goodwill bonuses And expected performance bonuses that equal a good percent (10-50) of one's salary.
I have never known anyone or seen the need for these massive Wall Street bonuses that are obscene numbers, and also MULTIPLES of already bloated paychecks.

gift card to a bookstore once, as kind of a private bonus, but that was different.
Mostly it's because of the industries I've worked in.

These days a bonus is eating every day and sleeping indoors.

Fortunately I work for a family business that is THE SALT OF THE EARTH. Dick Cheney waterboarding me would not get me say anything bad about these folks.

Mine is more than $100.00 and less than $1,000.00 and I feel very fortunate to get it.
