1. "Oh I didn't know THIS would happen when I voted Yes on Amendment 1" |

"I thought that they were just cutting fat from Crotty's overpaid staff. No one said they'd be laying off the teachers."
OCPS has signs in front of every school telling people to call their legislators about school cuts. What can the legislators do? The money is not there.
1/29/08 took care of all that and more.
Assholes.

2. The voters don't want to face facts. |

They want good schools but they don't want to pay for them.
It's a very childish mentality.

3. That is the epitome of FL |

I moved here 6 years ago (from NY) and noticed that one thing immediately. People here want everything and don't want to pay for anything. There is absolutely no sense of shared responsibility.
I read an editorial in the paper by someone complaining about property taxes being so high, then later in the article disclosed he is paying (a whopping) $800 a year. Get real. Then to top it off they bitch and moan about Disney, Universal, etc...who bring in the sales/hotel taxes that in the past allowed for a pretty low tax levy.
Something's gotta give here. It will be interesting to see how the next year play out. Local governments and agencies get the estimate of their tax millages in July. There is likely to be mass layoffs: police, firemen, parks, libraries.
