1. I think the word he used was sacrifice even though
the word suffered better describes what we've been going through.

3. yes!
His questions are usually kind of stupid, so I thought it was good that he was at least sifting through some suggestions from the public. AND this was the best suggestion he thought he received? Too funny.

4. Chuck Todd is the kind of person
that strikes me as poorly grounded. He comes off as someone without a strong sense of self and who identifies himself by his position. When he was first starting out on MSNBC he comported himself like an ordinary guy, but as his "star" rose at the network he has allowed it to go to his head. He now comes off as arrogant and pompous, unpleasant qualities to say the least.

6. I'm being generous and just assuming that Chuck Todd is not be very bright.
Edited on Wed Mar-25-09 09:47 AM by Marr
Implicit to his question was the assumption that the public exists to serve the economy, rather than the other way around. I think most people assume the whole problem with an economic downturn is that it results in public suffering. If the problem is that the public has no money, how is additional public sacrifice the answer?

It seemed that Todd views the economy as something superior to the public at large; a vast wealth system we're meant to serve, and hope it deems fit to toss a few coins our direction once in awhile.

7. Shared Sacrifice
I wish there was a way to get ALL AMERICANS to pull together to-wards a common goal like how it was done in WW2.

The war effort was paramount throughout America during the war and the sense of common purpose to defeat the Krauts and Japs and defend the "American Way of Life" had the entire country working together for those goals.

That is a tough one to create in this current "every man for himself" state of America.

I'll settle for a TRuman Commission to hunt down and kill Iraq war profiteers. Obscene profits for war materials is much more despicable than commodities futures trading, in my book, anyway.
