RNC offers "Marlboro points" for conservative LTEs and radio call-ins |
|
Here's one reason conservative letters to the editor outnumber progressive LTEs in most newspapers:
Here's a snippet from a front-page Wall Street Journal article from Jan 20, 2005 (Bush's second Inauguration Day: Republicans also are trying to organize activists who were mobilized for the 2004 presidential campaign into a standing political army. Its ranks potentially include 1.4 million volunteers and 7.5 million "e-activists" linked to the Bush team by campaign e-mail lists. They will be urged to call radio talk shows, write to newspapers and contact their elected representatives. In return, activists can earn points, in a system akin to a frequent-flier program, which can be used to buy gear from the Republican National Committee. It ran under this headline: "New Battlefield: To Enact Second-Term Agenda, Bush Keeps on Campaigning: Activists and Advocacy Groups Will Pitch Ideas to Voters; First Up: Social Security Seeking a Permanent Majority"
Also, the RNC still has the "George W. Bush Store" open at its website.

1. I wonder if you could redeem points for a free bag of Cheeto's? |
|
Better not give them any ideas.

2. I'll bet the points can be redeemed for more than just gear |

1,000 GOP points = 2 hours with Jeff Gannon
500 GOP points = 1 hour of household chores done by Armstrong Williams
