Police stopped a man for running a red light. The man's mom or MIL was dying, |
|
and he was racing her to the hospital. He stopped to be sure nothing was coming and ran the red. Cop made him wait while he wrote the red light ticket. The woman died. The cop has been relieved of duty for lack of fucking common sense. What a fucking idiot! The recipient of the speeding ticket is black. The cop I believe is white.

1. Used to be, the cop would say "follow me" and turn on his bubble to clear the way in an emergency. |

3. I think they were going to see his mother in law who was dying - no one died in the car |
|
at least if this was the recent story with the NFL player. Certainly, he should have been given an escort but getting pulled over at least when running a red light is hard to disagree with.

4. This has caused alot of outrage here in N. Texas. The officer has |
|
been placed on paid leave and has issued an apology. I believe that once he was told the situation he should have at least allowed the Moats to proceed to their relative's bedside. The matter of running the light could have been dealt with later.

6. Thanks for posting. I had not realized that the |

driver had his dying mother-in-law in the car.

9. From what others are responding with here, she may not have been. Happened in TX, |
|
and I've been trying to find a link. Others saying he may have been rushing to his MIL's bedside. But that is not what I heard reported this a.m.

...were pleading with this cop to let them get inside before she died too...bu to no avail. The man this happened to plays in the NFL...his name is Ryan Moats. He played for La. Tech in college.

11. An unconscionable act by that cop who was on a power trip. Thank God the dying woman's daughter |
|
got out of the car and ran to the hospital, despite the cop's overbearing tirade, and got to see her mother before she passed away.
That cop needs to be enrolled in a macho-management course and kicked off the force.

12. I saw a similar incident in an emergency room where a police officer refused to sa "your wife's okay |
|
before insisting a somewhat drunken man called to the hospital late at night because his wife had been in an accident had signed in.
The cop insisted the fellow sign in before telling him his wife was okay and the guy started going berserk.
The Virginia Beach police are the nastiest I've encountered having lived in FL, SC, VA, Ont., CT, RI, MD.

13. you've got your facts wrong. |
|
The guy wasn't racing someone to the hospital. She (his mother in law) was already at the hospital and he was rushing to see her before she died. The cop's behavior was abysmal, but let's not embellish the story.
