Pssssst....Tucker Carlson's MIL had Esophageal Cancer and she Smoked like a Chimney!
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 05:27 PM by KoKo01
She comes from a family of wealth but she used the Insurance Provided by the small Florida Independent School who employs her husband to take care of her surgery.

Does this matter? Well...it does in that those who have WEALTH still use our Health Care System...because THEY can save their money if they have GREAT HEALTH INSURANCE...provided by their "places of employment."

And...his wife's family are die hard Repugs.

Just now on MSNBC Tucker had Repug Congressman on talking about "Intitlement Programs" bringing down America. What about Tucker's MIL ....Didn't she take advantage of the health care system provided and BTW she and her hubby (Tucker's In-Laws) are now going to RETIRE with Pension and Benefits from SS and Private School Headmaster benefits.

3. Yep...only those "downtrodden Dems" need apply.....
Amazing isn't it? And, that Tucker doesn't ever do a disclaimer that his Dad was head of Libby Defense Fund and that his MIL and FIL are on the DOLE as Headmaster and Partner in Academia...

:-(

2. My dad had esophageal cancer and he never smoked a day in his life.
And he had great insurance, too.

I really don't understand the point of this thread...I guess having seen a family member suffer with the Big C, I don't like threads that use the disease to prove political points.

But that's just me.

4. Maddy...I was pointing out that Repugs always go after "lifestyle" and
"Entitlements" as the BugaBoo's of Democrats who they always say are "Tax and Spend" and "Corrupt" when, in fact, they avail themselves of the very same "Safeguards" put in place by the very DEMS they Attack.

That's what I was trying to get across.

13. Cancer of the esophagus is associated with gastric reflux. The trachea is affected by smoking.
The esophagus is the "food pipe". The "wind pipe" is the trachea.

Let's just work on health care for all, and not get caught up in condemnation of those who come down with terrible diseases. I understand your point, but leave it to the Repubs.

14. Hekate...it's the Hypocracy of Tucker against "Intitlements" and "Smoking" that makes one wonder
why Repugs trash folks who get sick and want them to take care of themselves when his own MIL got health care that was "from her employment?"

The Repugs say...we should live correctly...trust in Jesus...and not look for any "dole" to take care of health needs, food safety needs, protection from predator's needs (banks, lawyers, etc) ...yet when "push comes to shove" they are SO READY to avail themselves of the SAME stuff they trash.

Tucker's "In Laws" could have spent the money privately? (but it would have wiped them out) YET they used their Academic Medical Coverage. Shouldn't Tucker and his wife and her sisters have funded their Mother's Health Care?

Isn't this the FAMILY VALUES EXPERIENCE that Tucker and his RW Allies hold so dear to their hearts?

If you get SICK then BY GOD...either PRAY TO JESUS or ask your FAMILY TO PAY for your health care if you don't have a means to provide it?

5. Most people have to pay a fortune into crappy insurance
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 05:44 PM by djohnson
Yet a fortunate few get emulate healthcare provided by the government. These Repukes are the last people who should be lecturing us on entitlement. You make an excellent point.

6. If one is Headmaster of Independent School in Jeb's Florida...and can
build Million Dollars and more house on Cape Cod for retirement then one is safe. But, those who work under that aren't going to get that access to health care or the "add ons" that they achieved. And, if they ran into a problem...there's always Tucker's salary as an MSNBC Media Whore...

8. How do you know so much about this woman?
Is she really to blame for all the things you seem to be blaming her for?

9. Let me put it this way....she's not what most of us would call
"a nice person" and she and hubby live "high on the hog" down in Jeb's Florida. I hesitate posting for a long time about Tucker Carlson's "other side of the family" because I thought his father's Libby Connection was bad enough.

But, I finally couldn't stand it anymore and had to post that his family connections are ALL ABOUT PRIVILEGE! Maybe that's a great thing that he was born so LUCKY? Maybe he's cute and presentable on TEE VEE, and maybe many "Get Off" on his "Cutsey/Clueless Persona" BUT......LOOK AT HIS PRIVILEGED CONNECTIONS.

I know this about his MIL/FIL because of family connections...and I don't want to go into it more than that...but I didn't post until now because his HIPOCRACY on MSNBC has finally gotten so OTT that we all need to understand the "Privileged Circumstances" of those who REPORT OUR TEE VEE NEWS...along with those who WRITE our NEWSPAPER ARTICLES!

What is the background...where do you come from and who are you "embedded with." It's an honest observation and question about these folks from the "Press" who dance with Karl Rove at the White House Correspondents Dinner and laugh at the AMERICAN PEOPLE.

12. Agree! Hubby and Me pay for our OWN Health Care...
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 06:35 PM by KoKo01
"Small Business" and both of us have had "health incidents" that cause Insurance Companies to charge us a Premium...but our $22,000 a year we pay for Blue Cross/Blue Shield only allows us maybe 5 minutes with our Health Care Professional where we are treated like "clinic patients" (i.e. what the poor without health insurance} get in a "walk in clinic" or one of those "Emergi-Care" Walk In's provide.

We pay alot and as a too small a business to qualify for the Bush 100 or more employees BREAKS we fall in the cracks for health care. We are paying for what in "old times in America" would be called "Clinic Care for the Poor."

We walk in ...are asked to constantly fill in forms and get five minutes AT MOST access to a doctor while we wait for well over an hour sitting "undressed on a table" waiting for the Big Doc to come in and take care of us. This is after filling out Multiple Forms and when the Doc comes in we are asked to repeat all the information we spent time on filling out when we were in the "waiting room."

There's SOMETHING WRONG with HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA! $22,000 dollars a year that we have to work hard to make in our tiny business equates to having access to ONLY Blue Cross/Blue Shield and we wait for hours after filling out the latest HIPPA form and answering every detail about out Medical History....then get a Doc who asks us to REPEAT it all AGAIN before we get to why we came to seek medical care in the first place?

:eyes: Our Health Care System in America is all about MONEY & FILLING IN FORMS...AND NOT HEALTH CARE!

Just My Humble Opinion..

10. Oh yes....I do hope for her recovery and she's doing very well, so far...
but there are many who won't survive as well as she because they have NO ACCESS TO ANY DECENT HEALTH CARE!

She is a HAVE and so I wish her well. She's had the BEST of CARE.

I, nor any other DU'er that I have seen want folks to suffer or die...but we want to point out that "suffering and dying" shouldn't be delegated only to those who can't find affordable HEALTH CARE!

That was my point.

(she's doing very well and they are retiring to the Million & More Mansion on Cape Cod. (latest update)

"many who won't survive as well as she because they have NO ACCESS TO ANY DECENT HEALTH CARE!"

You are 100% correct. And it is such a shame. :(
