Public Service Notice: Can you PLEASE quit ASSUMING Obama has evil corporatist motives...
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 09:46 PM by Odin2005
...when you disagree with what he's doing at the very least? It seems to a typical for people to question the goodness of others that disagree with them and assume nefarious motives instead.

EDIT: PS, that applies to the Krugman-bashers, too.

placing his finger to his nose.

Well... I didn't see it, but my co-worker's cousin's college roommate did. The cell-phone picture is making the circuit as we speak. When it breaks, it's going to be H.U.G.H.

9. So you assume Obama is too just because you disagree with him?
*Odin points to where he talks about people assuming nefarious motives of people who disagree with them*

8. DU reduces everyone to a "love them or hate them" proposition.
The Krugman/Obama stuff is a perfect case in point. The whole thing hasn't been one of DU's finer intellectual displays. We're supposed to be smarter than Repubs, with the ability to actually see shades of gray, but you'd never know it by reading DU lately. Some people here come across as being as thick as a whale omelet.

11. And the peanut gallery loves someone one day and hates them the next.
There ore tons of example of DUers turning en masse against someone because the person is perceived to have gored some sacred cow or gone against some secret taboo I'm not aware of.

14. Yep, that's pretty common.
It shouldn't be surprising, human nature being what it is, but it stills bums me out to see it here. Bums me out even more when I'm one of the ones doing it. x(

20. DU is a peanut gallery, whatever that's supposed to mean.
It's not a secret:

- continuing the Iraq occupation, escalating Afghanistan

- giving more trillions to the banks who set up the crisis, a move that rewards crime and hurts the chances of recovery

- moving to let the Bush regime criminals go unpunished

These are not "sacred cows." They sum up the issues that have most concerned the majority of DUers all along - especially justice for the Bush regime crimes. You're not new here, so it shouldn't be a mystery to you.

If it would anger people if Bush did it, it will anger them when Obama does it.

13. I don't "hate" Obama...
.. in fact I like him and I like the things he says.

The things he DOES, well, not so much.

He tells the automakers, the last big manufacturing industry in the US, that they must "reform" to get a pittance of gov't cheese.

But they're handing out 10 times and more that much cheese to a useless industry that has sank the world economy and what reforms are required of them?

After 8 years of Bush I'd think most people would value ACTIONS over WORDS. Obama has great words but his actions are lacking, and 2-3 years from now this will all look like a tremendous wasted opportunity.

16. I think that most of the people who criticize him don't hate him at all.
You don't have to sell me on this. Obama was my next to last choice for a reason. I like the guy, I think he's a major step up and will do some great things, but I'm not enamored with him, or any politician.

22. Obama *must* be as pure as the driven snow, he has a "D" after his name..
:eyes:

I long ago stopped paying any attention to what politicians *say*, the only thing that counts is what they *do*.
