Anyone notice how late night TV ads have changed lately...

These ads are traditionally targetted to people who can't sleep because they gots problemz...

You know.. I don't like how I look (we have the make-up ads, the plastic surgery ads, the exercise machine ads...etc.)

You know... I'm alone and miserable ads (the phone sex and dating service ads...)

And the lawyer ads (I've been in an accident that's someone else's fault... I've been arrested for DUI which is my fault ads...)

And the I can't sleep ads because of various anxiety causing problems in my life ads...

Now we have whole new classes of late night ads:

Job training / vocational schools for those who are worried about unemployment.

and home auction/home flipping ads for those who are either looking to get rich quick or get a cheap home...

and credit fixing ads to fix people's broken credit....

The late night ads are shifting away from the social acceptance type ads to the basic financial problem ads.

7. I had a painful moment in grad school when I realized that 90% of the ads

in all my favorite shows were for gyms, creditor-avoidance, dating sites, and payday loans. I must (be) have been in a pathetic demographic... :)
