Curious - how angry are the citizens of Minnesota at being denied representation while this charade
continues. I heard yesterday someone say that the appeals process could drag on for YEARS?!

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

But, the only effective anger would be from within the state itself. How can Minnesotans put up with this BS? I would think they would call for the Governor, Secretary of State, Elections Board, State Supreme Court, etc. to find some way to accelerate the process so that Minnesotans are represented while some of the biggest s!@t in history goes down in Congress.

At the very least, have they drafted and passed any legislation to avoid a repeat of this mess?

2. It's not very apparent
I've actually had Minnesotans get more steamed at me for suggesting that this problem be fixed than they are at the problem. The Minnesota legislature should definitely pass some sort of provisional seating law so that when a winner is certified by the state elections board, he or she takes office. Any challenges then get sorted out in court, and if the results are reversed, then they're reversed, and the successful candidate is seated.

As it is now, as long as Norm Coleman is more devoted to keeping a challenge on life support, and the courts aren't interested in issuing a ruling, the people of Minnesota are deprived of representation. And yes, I'd be saying the same thing if the relative positions of the candidates were reversed. I know that both sides have now submitted their case to the judicial panel deciding this matter, and the case in chief has been over for a week or two. I don't know what the status of the matter is, but it seems that the judicial panel should have issued its ruling by now.

4. Does Al Franken really give a shit about being a senator?
He seems awfully complacent about being denied his seat. Almost 5% of his term has now elapsed, he's being screwed over royally and he doesn't seem to care. Is he really that uncincerned about the situation or does he lack the cojones to stand up for himself, call bullshit on this whole CF, ad go to DC and demand he be seated.

Right now he's the one on the defensive and he looks like a wuss.

8. Face it, Al is a team player & undoubtedly following Reid's lead
Of course as an incoming junior Senator, he sort of has to be deferential to the Majority Leader, but I think he is being poorly advised.

7. i doubt that most minnesotans are losing any sleep over it.
most people aren't going to notice much if anything, as far as their senatorial representation is concerned.
