I stand for that too when I've been in England.

I didn't vote in this poll.

24. The supremacy of the ruling class who do nothing what so ever to support themselves.
And even less to enrich their country.

7. She stands for a hidden oligarchy, benefitting from colonial history
and the servitude of millions. In the name of "order" she has stood as the benevolent face of a system that is repressive and determined to keep the class system in place.

How could Obama stand for that? How could he imagine that we the people of this country stand for that?

15. Good to know someone takes the British Monarchy more seriously thatn even they take themselves.
“The monarchy is so extraordinarily useful. When Britain wins a battle she shouts, "God save the Queen"; when she loses, she votes down the prime minister.”

Winston Churchill quotes (British Orator, Author and Prime Minister during World War II. 1874-1965)

28. The question is what she stands for
Just because the monarchy has no official voting right doesn't mean they have no clout.

What do you think being the richest woman in the world gets you?

25. But isn't it so much better to take a quote out of context? Aren't you just
titillated to the gills now that someone is trying to portray the best thing that has happened to this country in a VERY long time, to be an ass-hat like W?

33. Agreed. Most would. Which is why I continue to come back here. I am
starting to wonder though...are some of these people for real? Is it possible that anyone who really understands the past 8 years could be so dim as to think Obama deserves the level of criticism being hurled at him here?

Why the British lost the American colonies:
“We lost the American colonies because we lacked the statesmanship to know the right time and the manner of yielding what is impossible to keep.”http://famousquoteshomepage.com/Queen_Elizabeth_II_of_England.htm">Famous quotes

31. By all accounts she's a farily decent little old lady
Even though her position is purely ceremonial and her family is just as dysfunctional as anyone else's.

It was a diplomatic comment. Let's not make any more of it than that.

"The Sovereign acts as a focus for national identity, unity and pride; gives a sense of stability and continuity; officially recognises success and excellence; and supports the ideal of voluntary service."
