They released their budget on April Fool's Day |
|
Ok it's pretty funny and we all got a laugh out of it, but stop for a second and think of the magnitude of it.
Think about how many people were involved in the idea and the proposal itself. Congressmen. Staffers. Probably some outside consultants. People who have been around for awhile. Lots of big-time Republicans had to know basically what they were going to do and when they were going to release it. They had to set up their little revelation, create that awful graph, prepare their remarks and coordinate any other promotion they had planned for it, such as releasing official statements, sending out constituent emails, going on any shows or doing interviews, both local and national.
And even then, they didn't stop and think about how stupid it would be to unveil a budget plan on April Fool's Day. Or if they did think about it, they still did it anyway. Which is probably worse.
It wasn't going to end well, and a whole group of people thought it was a good idea.
The stupidity of it is profound.
I can still scarcely believe it.

2. I loved Austan Goolsbee's reaction to it ... he called them on it |

Such a stupid "roll-out" that I'm sure behind the scenes, some thugs are even ashamed of themselves ... If they had just waited ONE DAY, it wouldn't have become such a big butt of jokes, but noooooooo ...
Who the hell is driving that train???? (Are they high on ... ???)

Why not wait a day? Did it just not occur to them or what?
It reminds me of the typos and spelling mistakes in McCain's national ads. How many people watched those things over and over and over again and never caught those simple mistakes? I have always thought that calling people dumb was overused because we tend to do it when somebody disagrees with us or has a different philosophy. It's human nature to be like that everybody does it, probably too much. But I'm beginning to think that it isn't possible to call some members of the Republican Party dumb enough times.

4. Elites like their little jokes. It's a farce, this is their way of acknowledging it. |

Of course it was purposeful.
