My parents had taken my brothers somewhere that I wasn't interested in (shopping for clothes for them?), and I was watching TV when the news broke.
I recall that the live coverage switched to some gathering that was all African-American, and the shocked and grief-stricken reaction of the crowd when the man on the stage announced the assassination is one image that remains with me.
