Russian Air Force On Higher Readiness For N Korean Rocket Launch
Source: Trend News

Russia's air force has been put on a higher state of readiness in watching for North Korea's anticipated launch of a booster rocket, military officials said Saturday, reported dpa.

Military spokesman Sergei Rosha disclosed that Su-27SM jet fighters had been scrambled in order to keep watch over Russian air space, the Interfax agency reported.

1. And For Good Reason
Do the North Koreans have any clue where their missile will go? Russia is just across the border and Vladivostock isn't far away...an errant Korean missile has far less to travel to his Russian soil than almost any other country.

3. Whose Even In Charge?
I've read that Kim suffered a stroke and his son supposedly has taken power, but in such a closed society, reliable information is sketchy at best.

I would imagine the Russians aren't too happy having such a lightning rod in their backyard. It complicates relations with Japan, So. Korea and even China (who is the most conflicted) and I'm sure Pyongyang has played them as much as anyone. I would also imagine that a successful Korean launch would set up a lot of red flags in Moscow as we can be assured that the technology will be sold to the highest bidder (Iran or Pakistan's ISI) that would be an even bigger threat to Russia.

My curiosity is that the NoKoreans pull these actions to get attention and then some kind of aid or extortion. What's their price? Whose the fish?

Cheers...
