Poll question: Who do you believe in the Iran--Great Britain Stand-off |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-30-07 11:43 AM by joeybee12
I can't choose. Iran is being a d**k, but I wouldnt' put it past Tony Blair to use these 15 as an excuse to justify the US' long-planned attack on Iran. We're screwed either way!

The London Sunday Times ran an article before this happened saying that the Iranians wanted to capture some Brits as retaliation for the detention of their own people.
So, I think the Iranians were looking for an opportunity to do this - but Blair is smarter than them so deliberately put some of his people in harm's way knowing it would produce a domestic propaganda victory for him (hence the co-ordination of the BBC interviewing the sailors before they were taken).

Faye Turney (the female sailor) was interviewed and her interview broadcast on the BBC before and after the abduction.
Other crew members from HMS Cornwall were interviewed but I don't think the BBC broadcast the other interviews so not sure if any others were part of the abducted group.

4. Hell, I'll be the first to vote for Iran. |
|
I think they seriously believe that the British sailors were in Iranian waters. Notice I said "believe" - maybe a mistake was made. But I don't think they consciously captured these Britains knowing they were in the Iraqi waters. And I don't think they're handling it very well in the aftermath.

5. Agreed, they ain't handling it well... |
|
...but maybe we're not their audience...maybe how they're handling it is going over well in the Arab world.
Also, I would not put it past that scum Tony Blair to endanger the lives of 15 soldiers for hisown ends.

I trust that country as much as I trust the Bush Administration.

10. Agreed, Iran is not being honest |
|
but in all fairness they may have a reason, the typical Iranian is not very happy with their leadership right now. they may want to give them something else to focus on
