Are you able to come to Washington, DC for a week in May -- and play a key role in helping to end mountaintop removal coal mining?

I'm writing to invite you to join citizens from across the country who will be in Washington, DC from May 12-16, 2007, for the 2nd Annual Mountaintop Removal Week in Washington, sponsored by groups from across Appalachia and the nation.

Last year, 65 people from 13 states visited 80 congressional offices as part of our Week in Washington.

These citizen lobby efforts helped us gain 12 additional sponsors for the Clean Water Protection Act -- federal legislation that would sharply curtail mountaintop removal coal mining -- while educating congressional staff about the destructive legacy of mountaintop removal coal mining.

Your participation this year could make the difference in our efforts to advance the Clean Water Protection Act. And the week in Washington is a great opportunity to meet people like you from all around the country who are committed to stopping mountaintop removal coal mining.
