The Kansas City Star is disappearing. Not much left. |
|
Its a good thing that I like to read the obit column because that is just about all that's left of our newspaper. Just about everything is gone now. Well, the funnies and sports are still there.
I will really miss the paper. I love to drink my coffee and read the paper. I don't like to read it online - it is just too hard on my eyes.
The newspaper and the white pages of the phone book. Sigh. Those were the good ole days.

Years ago, when we lived in KCMO, my then-husband wrote a letter to the editor of the Star. It had something to do with some other really rightwing thing that had gone on, and, in the letter, he suggested that perhaps those people would demand diapers on the horses in the American Royal.
Incredibly, the Star published his name with the letter - no problem there - AND OUR ADDRESS!!!
You wouldn't believe what we got on our front lawn. Nice people, and they read newspapers ..............

2. They don't add addresses any more. |
|
Now there are't very many letters - and most aren't interesting at all.

3. They weren't interesting then, |
|
but I'm glad they cut that nasty little practice. I've never lived in a place where addresses were published.
Still, I'm very sorry to hear it's going under. So much for our time-honored rituals, huh?

6. I guess the news section has all moved over to the internet. |
|
This morning they just listed the topics with short little blurbs and said more info was available on the internet site.
I just hate this.

7. I think they are still there - just putting all the news and stuff |
|
out on the internet instead of in print.

10. There's a little more to it than that - but not much. |
|
The first two pages are kind of national type news and the next couple are local. Its been cut way back. But sports section is still there and the business section - but I think it was cut back, too.
If you want the TV section you have to pay an extra 25Cents - it isn't included in the papers that are delivered any more.
Most of the paper is just ads.
