You have someone holding a freaking gun to someone else and you want the situation over with, and use of force in this case (and others) is warranted and can save lives. You wait, an innocent person dies.

You don't want people like that around, and so wishing our government would do what is needed is not, imho, equated with 'wishing' for the death of someone but wishing that someone, the person held hostage, comes out alive. And if that means shooting someone (who may well do the same thing again later) then I am all for it.

I am a very tolerant man, I don't care how you live your life, celebrate your values and religion, etc and so on. But when you put a gun up to someone and demand money or something else in return for not killing that person I am not going to lose sleep over you getting shot.

Being a liberal I am for peace, and choice, and against the death penalty. And in a hostage situation I am all for the people trying to save a life and not for the people threatening a life to make money.

I will put it like this - were it me I would shoot them and end the crisis as fast as possible - after giving them the choice to cease and desist. Folks cheered in the streets when hitler was dead and germany defeated - not because they were blood thirsty hate mongers, but because they wanted an end to all the damned violence and war.

We had a good ending for the victim here, and a bad one for the perps. They made the choice here, and they made the wrong one.

I don't think celebrating death is a wonderful thing, but I sure as hell understand it in cases like this. It is not all black and white - and you will see me often on threads where people grave dance when someone famous dies disagreeing with people over such dancing.

My morals and values may not be yours, so feel to disagree with me on them. And I will yours. I am glad though that we have the freedom to have such debates :)

36. I know the OP isn't actually pushing it but I've also seen posts by people who

don't want Obama's economic or foreign policies to work and even who do seem to always want to blame the US for everything. It is weird. Idiotic stereotypes frequently become stereotypes because of a few folks who actually fit it. It is a small minority but I've definitely seen it around here over the past couple of months. It annoys me. I'm sorry. I certainly don't think it fits for the huge majority of people. :)
