Krugman makes fun of the crazies and the teabaggers..... |
|
...shooting fish in a barrel, if you ask me. Link here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/13/opinion/13krugman.html?_r=1&pagewanted=printTea Parties Forever By PAUL KRUGMAN This is a column about Republicans — and I’m not sure I should even be writing it.
Today’s G.O.P. is, after all, very much a minority party. It retains some limited ability to obstruct the Democrats, but has no ability to make or even significantly shape policy.
Beyond that, Republicans have become embarrassing to watch. And it doesn’t feel right to make fun of crazy people. Better, perhaps, to focus on the real policy debates, which are all among Democrats.

1. They're a crazy bunch, those Republicans. |

Instead of convening to reconsider their past atrocities and chart a new course for the future of the nation and their Party, they're promoting "teabag parties" in which tiny gaggles of reactionary fools, nearly exploding with rage over who knows what, bring tea bags to their regional rivers and lakes and toss them into the water.

2. They're Totally Oblivious |

When you live in a parallel universe, reason and reality are the last things you want to hear...epecially if you're a rushpublican. As usual, Dr. Krugman nails it...and it amazes that after all the losing they've done, all the polls that show how their party is eroding into rubble, the dead-enders still defy gravity.
A couple days ago, an acquaintance was joking about how the Teabaggers kinda reminded him of the early Cindy Sheehan protests, but before he could try to spin further, I stopped him in mid sentence and reminded him of what Cindy and the rest of us were protesting vs. what is going on now. Cindy wasn't a paid operative backed by a political party and enjoying hours of free publicity on a cable network. She walked alone and the rest of us followed. This teabagging is an astroturfed dog and pony show strictly to create teevee pictures and create a self-delusion among the dead-enders that they are making some kind of statement.
The moment the GOOP actually cultivates new, realistic approaches to the world we live in, and is serious in implementing them...the party will implode.
